Paint me your spring is a series of interviews that were conducted within “de Vrolikheid”: a charity based in the Netherlands that collaborates with artists to organise activities within refugee centers.

Although the film was made with the support of the volunteers of de Vrolikheid, I was granted full creative control, as long as I followed their code of conduct to ensure respect and privacy towards the residents.

The interviews were the most challenging aspect of the film, and therefore where I learned the most.

We premiered at one of the centres where we shot. It was wonderful to see everyone again, and it was quite an emotional experience. This sentiment carried on through the screening, which went much better than anticipated.
